Niederlande... Was kommt als nächstes? Paraguay? Lybien? Slowekai? Und wenn dann die Version größer und größer wird einfach die älteren Maps aus der Version nehmen, echt schade sowas :/

Project Reality: Battlefield 2 Progress

Since the successful release of Project Reality v0.95, we have been developing the next installment of Project Reality: BF2, the v0.96 patch. This patch will focus heavily on the optimization of the entire PR:BF2 modification and will also contain multiple bug fixes. Of course not all of our work has just been code related; we have also been developing brand new in game assets for you to have at our disposable while playing PR. Here is a preview of just a few of them:

- Militia: BMP-1 Infantry Fighting Vehicle

The BMP-1 is a Soviet amphibious tracked Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV). The BMP-1 was the world's first mass-produced IFV and it was a revolutionary design, combining the properties of an armored personnel carrier (APC) and a light tank. The Soviet military saw any future wars as being conducted with nuclear, chemical and biological weapons, where unprotected infantry would soon be either killed or incapacitated by radiation or chemical and biological agents. A vehicle like the BMP would allow infantry to operate from the relative safety of its armored, radiation shielded interior in contaminated areas and to fight alongside it in uncontaminated areas. It would increase infantry squad mobility, provide fire support to them, and also be able to fight alongside main battle tanks. The design is so good that many nations across the world still use this vehicle even though its well over 40 years old.

- Russian Forces: BMP-2 Infantry Fighting Vehicle

The BMP-2 is a second-generation, amphibious infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) introduced in the 1980s in the Soviet Union, following the success of the BMP-1 of the 1960s. Although the BMP-1 was a revolutionary design, its main armament, the 2A28 Grom and the 9S428 ATGM launcher, quickly became obsolete. Therefore the Soviet Union decided to produce an updated and improved version of the BMP-1. The most significant changes are a new two-man turret armed with the 2A42 30mm auto cannon and the 9P135M ATGM. The commander now sits with the gunner in an enlarged turret and its occupants are protected by slightly improved armor.

- PLA: Zhi-9 Light Transport Helicopter

The People's Liberation Army's (PLA) Zhi-9 (Z-9) is a Chinese, licensed-built version of the Eurocopter AS 365N Dauphin II. The Z-9 is possibly the most produced helicopter in China, with over 200 machines delivered to both military and civilian customers. The Z-9 fulfills the role of light transport and utility helicopter in the PLA. In PR:BF2, the Z-9 will be able to fly a full squad of troops quickly into battle and deploy them in small landing zones where larger transport helicopters would have not been able to.

- PLA: Zhi-9WA Light Attack Helicopter

The PLA Zhi-9WA (Z-9WA, aka WZ-9A) is a light attack helicopter based on the Zhi-9, light transport/utility helicopter featuring a pair of external weapon pylon, a under nose mounted observing and tracking unit housing a low-light camera and an infrared search and track (IRST) camera, allowing it to operating in all weathers, both day and night. In PR:BF2 there will be multiple versions of the Z-9WA, each carrying a different load out of weapons. These different load outs will be used on maps and layers that suit them best, with the option of mixing the different load outs among multiple helicopters.

Project Reality 2010 Christmas Map Pack

Friday the 10th of December 2010

Northern Lights is a 4km Assault and Secure (AAS) map that features the German and the Russian Forces battling it out over an open, slightly woody terrain. Both factions will have tanks and APC's at their disposal, along with transport helicopters to provide support.

Barentz Invasion is a 2km coastal map which pins the British Armed Forces against the Militia Forces in both AAS and Insurgency game modes. The British have light vehicles, APC's and helicopters to seek and destroy the hostile militia forces that although lightly armed, have dug into the surrounding countryside making them hard to destroy.

Operation Snow Storm is a 4km AAS map that features British and Chinese forces in mountainous, woodland where both sides will be relying primarily on helicopter support to navigate the harsh terrain. They are also backed up with light vehicles, APC's and mobile Anti-Aircraft.

We will be releasing the Project Reality 2010 Christmas Map Pack on Friday the 10th of December 2010, so keep your eyes peeled for the released! With the release of the map pack, we would like to encourage server administrators to organize special events for the community to sign up and participate in. If you need any assistance from the PR team, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Project Reality: BF2 Media Update

The Reality Studios team is still hard at work on the development of next installment of Project Reality and we are making great progress. Listed below is media from just a few of the multiple projects we are currently working on.

FNA: AS 565 MB Panther Light Transport Helicopter

The French Naval Aviation's AS 565 MB Panther is a naval search and rescue version of the AS365 N3, currently in production. The version shown above is the Mk2 version, which is currently in production (but not yet in service thou should be in the next few years). It features an upgraded cockpit, avionics, implementing an electro-optical FLIR, improve the tactical system and develop a system of self-protection. The main role of this helicopter in Project Reality will be light transport on maps which feature a naval presence with the helicopter being able to transport a full squad into battle, while also being able to laze targets.

Brazilian Army: HM-1 Pantera Light Transport Helicopter

The HM-1 Pantera (Panther SA 365 K) is the first version of the Panther, based on the AS365 N2. Although very similar to the Z-9, it dose have a few differences like its longer nose, different air filters over the engine intakes etc. In game it will serve as the light transport helicopter for the Brazilian Forces, being able to swiftly drop a full squad of troops into battle where larger helicopter might be unable to reach.

MEC: BMP-2M Infantry Fighting Vehicle

The BMP-2M is an upgraded version of the BMP-2 equipped with AG-30M automatic grenade launcher, four "Kornet-E" ATGM launchers, new day/night(FLIR) sight for gunner, panoramic TV-sight for commander and new FCS. The BMP-2M has the ability to fire two missiles simultaneously at one target.

Shijia Valley - UK vs PLA

Shijia Valley is an all new 4km AAS map based on the fertile Shijia Valley in central China. With a large river basin, rice patties, mountainous terrain and an urban city, the battle landscape will be as varied as the assets needed to accomplish the mission.

And what might that mission be? In partnership with her allies, the British Army has been tasked with securing a uranium mine in the hills above this otherwise peaceful valley. They have already taken control of the local rail yard, set up a forward operating base and are about to begin the final push across the river. It is now up to the People's Liberation Army (PLA) to protect their land and nuclear resource. Both forces have armor, APC's, boats, and helicopters at the ready and are waiting for the storm clouds to clear.
