Zombie Community Mod - Client 1.1

IMPORTANT NOTE TO AVOID CRASHING: MAKE SURE AUTOBALANCE IS OFF! DO NOT TURN IT ON!

Battlefield 2142 Zombie Community Mod,

by A-Train (AwesomeATrain)

Thank you for downloading the Battlefield 2142 Community Zombie Mod!

Order of release:

Zombie_community_Beta
Zombie_community_alpha
Zombie_community_1.1 (Current) [1.1]

Supports MAC and Windows Based Versions.

This 1.1 version focuses on adding single player which I accidently forgot and some minor bugs that cause
servers and clients to crash. Players CAN expect the mod to crash on a regular basis, to which there is
nothing I can do. I've done my best to prevent crashes but it is a fact of 2142 co-op in general.

*\*This version is designed to work on the latest version of Battlefield 2142 (1.50)**

The 2142 Zombie mod pits human players against an excessively large amount of bots who are
armed with nothing but fire and zombie goo. These bots will relentlessly hunt down the other team, who
in turn must hold out against them as long as possible. Players CAN win if they kill enough zombies
that cause their tickets to reach 0. Hold out soldiers, are you will find the victory music most
pleasing. Fail, and we will weep tears.

This mod is designed for mutiplayer (server-client), lan, and single player. This mod is designed
to be balanced in favor for the zombies. So most players will find that this mod is insainly hard
to play when against zombies. Players can also choose to play as zombies as well, HOWEVER, this mod
has coded all bots to be placed on the PAC team, no matter how you set the co-op ratio. The bots
are >NOT< programmed for the EU team on purpose to avoid as many crashing bugs as possible.
So please, DO NOT try to manually move bots to the EU side or you will find the game very unstable.
Commander abilities have also been removed because zombie commanders cause servers to crash. You will
find that all vehicles have been removed because in order to remove most crashing bugs, I cannot
modify the material manager information.

++ Installation Instructions ++

  1. Extract the Zombie Community 1.1 folder from the mods folder in zombie_community_1.1.zip to your
    Battlefield 2142's mods folder:
    (default location C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\mods)
    (default location C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition\mods)

  2. Verify that the mod installed correctly by going into the mods folder of your working 2142 directory
    and checking that the folder named "Zombie_Community_1.1" is there.
    (Correct Install: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\mods\Zombie_Community_1.1)
    (Correct Install: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition\mods\Zombie_Community_1.1)

  3. Please READ these 2 steps CAREFULLY! If you DO NOT, you will fail at trying to play this mod!

++ Launching the mod ++

There are two ways to launch the zombie mod. The easiest way is to activate the mod from within
2142 itself. This is done by clicking on the COMMUNITY button, followed by the CUSTOM GAME, and
then to select and activate the Zombie Community 1.1 mod. If you have the previous version of the zombie
community mod, then it is encouraged to remove the previous older versions as they are no longer
supported. However, if you wish to keep the versions, simply look for the version number to find out
which one to launch. Look for version 1.1 (not 0.1 or 1.0).

Alternatively (and especially if you use non vanilla resolutions) you will want to run the mod
from it's own shortcut. This is done by making a copy of your BF2142 desktop shortcut and
adding the line...

+modPath mods/Zombie_Community_1.1

...to the end of the target box. It should now look something like this:
"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/Zombie_Community_1.1

OR

"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/Zombie_Community_1.1

++ Playing the Mod ++
For singleplayer and LAN, it is best to load up a map via Multiplayer->Local->Create game
That way you have more control over the game settings. Most game settings have been already set
up for you, so not much is needed. If a player desires, they can set the number of tickets, which
in turns lets you control how difficult the game will be. The more tickets, the harder the game.
The less tickets, the easier the game. A good game of 2 or 3 players is around 120. A good game
of only one player is around 50 tickets. Four or more players might want to set the tickets to 200
or even 300 if they feel daring.

++ Credits ++
Special thanks goes to ZMod, Original Zombie mod for 2142, FFolks Unlocks Mod, and the PS1441 Clan
for helping me test this! You currently have the public release version of this mod, the final
release for the mod. This is my farewell release as I will no longer be modding 2142 anymore.
Music from http://www.mybluedream.com (Laura Shigihara (Various Albums)) was used in the making
of this mod. So those addicted to the music should go to that website. Also, thanks to Frosted
Freeze in providing the Zombie Management code that makes the servers more stable. If I left
anybody out, then I apologize in advance. Simply post a thread and I'll post additional credits
on my websites.

An additional to the mac users for pointing out some lack of major features and some bugs that
don't work on the MAC. This is a UNIVERSAL MAC/WINDOWS release.

++ FAQ ++

Q. When I try to create a game, the game crashes as soon as I click the 'create game' button
A. This is due to incorrect installation of the mod. Please read the installation section of this
readme very carefully when installing.

Q. When I create a game, there are vehicles and stationary weapons on the map and there are no bots.
A. This is because you didn't select co-op as the game type. This is VERY important as zombies
are only present in co-op.

Q. When I create the game, there are only 16 bots and they are all using weapons.
A. This is because the game hasn't loaded up the mod. If you are using a shortcut, make sure
you have typed in the '+modPath mods/zombie' into the target box correctly (see the example
above). Alternatively, make sure you are enabling the mod from the Community -> Custom game.

Q. The mod works, but when I disconnect from the match, the game crashes to the desktop.
A. This is because the game cannot cope with the current number of bots. You can adjust
the amount of bots on the 'aidefault.ai' located in the AI folder (using notepad or wordpad).
Alternatively, if you wait until the next level loads and press Esc while it is loading, it
will return to the menu without crashing. Take note, if you adjust the bot number, you won't
be able to join the online server (until you revert the number back to it's original 48)

Q. The mod works, but it keeps crashing randomly.
A. This is most likely caused by the amount of bots used, especially if you're using slower
hardware. Adjusting the amount of bots in the aidefault.ai file to a lower number will fix
this. Take note, if you adjust the bot number, you won't be able to join the online server
(until you revert the number back to it's original 48)

Q. How do I contact A-Train to tell him how much I love this mod? How do I contact A-Train to
inform him of the bugs I found?
A. Please visit one of the websites below (except for mybluedream.com) to post a thread. I
can be contacted there.

Now have fun, and remember - defend your tags at all costs! God Bless.
