WarFront Update: Panzer & Pistolen
Originaltext: It's been awhile since we've had an update, but I assure you the team has been working hard behind the scenes. First off, I'd like to introduce a few new faces to you all. Snuffeh and Pope have offered to help us skin some weapons and vehicles, so we will have a texture update soon from these very talented guys. Now, on to the models... Today, we give you several new models, starting with the PzKpfw III Ausf. E, which entered production in December of 1938. It was the first PzKpfw III that was produced in significant number. It was armed with a 37mm KwK 35/36 L/46.5 gun and three 7.92mm MG 34 machine guns (two in the turret and one in the hull), and its armor protection ranged from 12 to 30mm.
We also introduce the PzKpfw IV Ausf. D to the German armor line-up. Armed with a 75mm KwK 37 L/24 gun and two 7.92mm MG 34 machine guns, it was a very formidable force on the battlefield in the late 30's and early 40's. The Ausf D was truly the first PzKpfw IV production model and remained in service until 1944.
The German and Polish armies also get handweapons today, in the form of the VIS wz.1935 and the Walther P-38 The VIS was a recoil operated, single-action 9mm pistol. Externally it closely resembled the Colt 1911 but was not a copy. It used a cam-lug system of operation similar to that of the Browning Hi-Power pistol. It was a reliable firearm, and very precise.
In 1938 the Werhmacht adopted the Walther MP model experimental pistole as "Pistole 38". Military production began the next year, and was issued first to elite Panzer crews. The P-38 was well regarded by those who carried it, as a tough, accurate and simple pistol, and a very advanced design for its time. Mauser and Spreewerke also produced the P-38, over one million in total during World War II, but the Walther versions were always the most prized.
As usual, there's more to come...
Trotzdem ---> weiter so!
