iGames: BF42 meist gespieltes Game
Laut iGames.org belegt Battlefield 1942 und das Addon Road to Rome weltweit den ersten Platz der meist gespieltesten Computer & Video Games. Somit topt BF42 angeblich sogar Half-Life: Counter-Strike. Für über 17 Monate stand die Half-Life Modifikation Counter-Strike auf dem ersten Platz, bis es jetzt von BF1942 und RTR auf den zweiten Rank verdrängt wurde.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA ? iGames announces that Electronic Arts?? Battlefield 1942 ?, has become the most widely played PC game in game centers around the world. Sierra? Entertainment?s Half-Life: Counter-Strike?, had previously held this coveted position for over 17 months.
Counter-Strike had dominated iGames? Top 20 games list, earning the largest percentage share of all in-center game play. Thanks in part to a series of Battlefield 1942 tournaments hosted by iGames and Firingsquad, and sponsored by ASUS?, Shuttle®, and NVIDIA®, Counter-Strike?s reign has come to an abrupt halt. April 2003 saw a spike in Battlefield 1942?s share of game play to propel it to first place, knocking CS down to second place. Carol Bennett, iGames? Events Director, had this to say, ?players have transferred their allegiance from CS to Battlefield 1942 due to the incredible graphics, wide variety of weapons and vehicles, and the diversity of each match that they play.?
Over 1,000 players participated in the iGames/Firingsquad North American Battlefield 1942 tournament. Firingsquad, helmed by Dan Turner, has created a new portal on their website (http://www.firingsquad.com/fsleague/) and turned it into a players? information hub, where pictures, battle reports and team interviews are posted. Dan Turner said, ?we?ve raised the bar for National and International competitive gamers? tournaments by creating a portal that closes the gap between players and teams that are separated by thousands of miles.? Game center owners have joined in the action by actively talking with and interviewing their BF 1942 players.
